When Raman is faced by various problems created by his ex - wife and Ashok, Ishita stands as a solid wall to protect her husband and daughter. Raman's ex-wife Shagun gets engaged to his business rival Ashok Khanna whereas Raman, Ishita and Ruhi develop a beautiful and understanding relationship with each other. ![]() Raman is bitter and harsh whereas Ishita is very understanding and reasonable. Raman also has an 11 – year - old son whose custody is given to his estranged wife Shagun who pollutes the mind of the boy against Raman. During the divorce case, Raman is forced to marry Ishita to retain the custody of the child. ![]() Raman is a Punjabi whereas Ishita is Tamilian. She has a motherly affection towards Ruhi thus creating an obscure relationship with the father of the girl, Raman Bhalla. Ishita develops a love bond with Ruhi because she can no more bear a child. Raman Bhalla is a divorcee with a little daughter Ruhi. The concept is based on north - south conflict and is related to contemporary metropolitan population.
